Miscellanea

Having dedicated much of one’s professional life to logistics, specifically crafting efficiency and centralization strategies for final mile delivery of beverages and most recently custom built home furnishings, our personal interests are varied.

Food, cuisine, the culinary arts – epicureanism, as it were, is a primary delight of ours. A well prepared meal, presented in a beautiful atmosphere, with good wine and good music is truly a joy. Meals are sustenance for the soul as well as the body. The memories we retain of the tastes, aromas, textures, and sights enjoyed during a good meal stay with us throughout our lives. If it isn’t already apparent, one is most definitely in the “live to eat” camp, not “eat to live”.

Literature is another of our great loves. To read is to be transported to scenes both foreign and familiar, to be lifted out of the banality of our every day lives, for just a little while, by the tales spun by authors ancient or modern. The exposure to cultural and scientific ideas and material outside of our regular sphere is an opportunity to become more educated and fully rounded. The connections one finds between different works and between literature and life are elucidating and awe inspiring, at times.

And travel. Literally transporting one’s self – flitting away by plane, train, or automobile. Similar to culinary experiences, to travel is to gather experiences for our memory banks. Different cuisines, flora, architectural styles, cultural treasures, and new friendships are just a few of the delights of travel. And taking literature one step further, travel presents us with real-life opportunities to augment our knowledge of other peoples and places. Certainly the logistics of getting from point A to point B can be nerve wracking, but we find it most definitely worth the effort.
